List at least 5 or 6 interesting things i found out about the Battle of Gallipoli.

500 woman went to war as nurses, and 10 paid the ultimate sacrifice by being sunk by a German u-boat.

Captain Faik sees the ships shadows of the coast of the peninsula.

Just before 3:00am the ANZAC covering force are towed to the peninsula.

A burst of sparks flew up and ruins the landing of the soldiers.

At 4:25 am the 9th and 10th battalion land under ottoman gunfire and will become ANZAC cove.

Elections persuasive writing

WALT: Write an effective argument for our chosen political party.

For the 2017 election i would march for Labour. Labour was in power from 1997-2010 and are trying to take action in many things, I believe that electing Labour for government is the best thing we can do. Labour wants to stop people living in disgusting homes, which is a big cause of avoidable sickness mostly among children,These are all good things that Labour has promised to make a reality if elected in to government, and are all reasonable statements.

Policy One: Housing: Labour wants to introduce enforceable quality standards for rental housing and believes that too many people are left living in cold, damp and mouldy homes because the property they rent is substandard, This is a big cause of preventable illness, especially among children,  Introducing enforceable quality standards should ensure that all people can have a warm and dry place to live. Housing is a very important policy and Labour is trying to take action in it.

Policy Two: Economy: Increase funding for regional roading. Labour believes that regional transport, and roads in particular, are struggling to keep up with growth in heavy traffic and tourist numbers, Funding outside the three main centres has not kept up with regional needs and some roads are poorly maintained. Increasing funding for regional transport should improve the quality of regional roading and make transport safer, Labour wants to enlarge the Economy.

Policy Three: Transport: Develop a national ports strategy. Labour believes the New Zealand port system suffers from a lack of coordination. This results in ports being played off against each other by international shipping lines and over-capitalisation, Developing a strategy for ports should improve shipping coordination and reduce freight and environmental costs, Labour would develop a national ports strategy.

Labour would also encourage collaboration between ports, especially in the northern North Island.

And lastly I would not march for the National party because of these polices.

Policy Two:

Economy: Continue the business growth agenda. National believes New Zealand needs to build a more competitive and productive economy to provide economic growth and prosperity into the future. Businesses are the drivers of economic growth but the government can help through policies surrounding skills, infrastructure, innovation and investment.

The Business Growth Agenda is the National Government’s organising framework for economic growth and micro-economic reform. It focuses on six different streams of work in export growth, innovation, investment, natural resources, workplaces and skills, and infrastructure. Continuing an economic plan like the Business Growth Agenda is essential to strengthening the economy and delivering greater prosperity for all New Zealanders. National would continue the Business Growth Agenda. This is a reform and funding programme to encourage economic growth and create jobs.  

In conclusion I think that Labour should be elected into government. Labour cares about New Zealand and everyone in the country. I have given 3 points about Labour’s policies and 1 point about how I am against nationals policies.  

Term 2 book review

This story is about a young teenager named Harry Potter.He lived with his aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon along with his cousin dudley. Anyway it is harry's fourth year at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry,But this year is not like the rest. This year The Triwizard Tournament is taking place at Hogwarts Harry is chosen as the fourth competitor witch is strange because there is only meant to be three. Because he is in the tournament he must face three extremely dangerous tasks, The first task is to try and get the golden egg from the dragon guarding it, The second is recovering what the grindylows took where you must hold your breath for one hour and it is in the black lake, and the third task is full of mystery. In this book Harry Potter starts his fourth year at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.

It start of with harry going to the quiddich world cup final with his best friend Ron weasley and his family.
Harry Potters name is randomly selected for a magical event, The Triwizard Tournament where he has to face three extremely dangerous tasks.

Success Criteria:

Penguins are from the Spheniscidae Family and they live mainly in Antarctica.

There are 17 types of different penguins living in the world and they belong to different genuses.

Now I am going to name the types of penguins and their genuses.

The penguins that belong to the Aptenodytes are, Emperor, King.

The penguins that belong to the Eudyptes are, Royal, Rockhopper, Snares, Macaroni, Fiordland, Erect-Crested.

The little penguin belongs to the Eudyptula genus.

The Yellow-Eyed Penguin  belongs to the Megadyptes genus.

The Penguins that belong to the Pygoscelis are, Addelie, The Chinstrap and the Gentoo.

And finally the Penguins that belong to the Spheniscus are, African, Galapagos, Humboldt and the Magellanic.

It takes about 3 to 8 years for the average penguin to reach sexual maturity. Once the penguins have reached sexual maturity thus starts the breeding cycle and pattern.

The Penguin has a variety of land and sea predators. The sea predators are, Sea Leopard, Sea Lions, Orcas, Australian Sea Eagle and the Suka. The land predators are, Ferrets, Cats, Snakes, Lizards, Foxes and Rats.

Penguins are a food source for the animals I just listed. A Penguin's stomach blend in with the snow because their stomach’s are white and their back’s are black making it difficult for flying predators to see the penguin.

That was me explaining some intresting facts about penguins.

I have created a New Zealand marine habitat and included 3 creatures that live there,one endemic,one native and one introduced

The marine habitat is a famous sight of Coral. It also has ideal hiding spots for the animals to hide from predators. Some good hiding spots are,underwater caves,deep caverns, ravines and you might spot the occasional anemone or two.

The native animal I have chosen is the Hector's Dolphin.

Dolphins sleep with only half of their brain and with one eye open so they can watch for predators and other treats . Dolphins travel in a group of Dolphins which is called a pod

and it takes around 1,000 Dolphins to make a full pod.

Dolphins are very good divers but the Hector's Dolphin is endangered.

That means that they are becoming extinct that means that there are now very a very little number of them

The introduced animal I have chosen is the Seahorse.

Seahorses are the only animals in which the male  (not the female) is to give birth and care for their young. Seahorses propel themselves by using a small rudder on their back that flutters up to 35 times per second.

The endemic animal I have chosen is the Jellyfish.

The Jellyfish has been around more than 650 million years which means they out date both dinosaurs and sharks.

If you touch the tentacles of a jellyfish it will electrocute\sting you.

The diary of the mayor of England.

July 28th 1914.

Dear diary

I drove to the school to listen to some boys sing God Save The King.

But the piano  it had was a German piano and the army of Germany

was at war with the British empire.

A teacher by the name of Mrs Biggs went to the school’s caretaker’s shed and got an

axe. The teacher and myself took turns in Releasing out our rage by smashing the German

piano with the axe.

Then the boys sang God Save The King,the pianist fingered the keys of the song

on her lap and Mrs Biggs conducted the boys and stood on the remaining bits of rubble

left from the piano.

Cross Country Poem

WALT use poetic to recount an event we participated in.

The cross country event was usual enough; it had the

Flags, the cones, the grass, the train tracks and even the cheering kids

My friends, my classmates and I did what kids do-

We jumped across the divots ,we felt the blood red on the kids faces,

The over cowering green trees, we hobbled slowly across the tracks,

We saw the cones reflect on the sun, we heard the cheering of the kids

And the flowing flags at the end
